Biography

Thomas was born about 1750 in North Carolina. Thomas married Sarah Fuqua on October 18, 1795 by Benjamin Ogden in Nelson County, Kentucky. [1]In 1820, he was on the Indiana Enumeration Of Males. He passed away on December 8, 1834 and buried in the Coffee Creek Baptist Cemetery (Old Pioneer Section) in Paris Crossing, Jennings County, Indiana [2] He is buried in the old pioneer portion of the cemetery about two miles from the town of Paris Crossing. The pioneer cemetery is on the left hand side of the road and is in sad shape and vandalized. Thomas’s tombstone is probably gone as well of most of the tombstones in the pioneer section . Just before you get the old cemetery the newer Coffee Creek Baptist Church Cemetery lay along the right side of the road. Coffee Creek Baptist Church is located at the edge of town and is no longer in existence The last information I had, the red brick building is still there but not used as a church.

Residence

There were nineteen Thomas Scoot living in Kentucky in 1810, and the closest match based on the number of children and births was a Thomas Scott living in Christian County. I found a land record stating that a Thomas Scott brought one hundred acres of land on October 3, 1817 and recorded in Deed Bool:1, page: 103 and another one that a Thomas Scott and wife, Sarah sold one hundred acres on August 3, 1818 and recorded in Deed Book: I, page:240. There were several other Scott families living in Christian County at the time.

Wives

There were two marriages for a Thomas Scott and Sarah found in Kentucky that fell within the timeline. Thomas Scot who married Sarah Hamilton on October 2, 1798 in Mercer County and a Thomas Scott marrying a Sarah Fuqua. on October 18, 1795 in Shelby County, Kentucky. I first I believe that Sarah Hamilton was the one I was searching for. However, I found a record that stated that they both died in Kentucky. At that point, I turned my attention to the second marriage -- Thomas Scoot and Sarah Fuqua. I can‘t say I have found any proof the Sarah Fuqua is the correct one. There were some Fuquas in area where the Thomas Scott was from.
