Sir William Scott married Jean Skene, daughter of Sir John Skene of Curriehill and Helen Somerville.^[1] They had issue:

Jean Skene was the third wife of William Scott of Eley (Elie), this William, son of a wealthy maltman at the Westport of Edinburgh (who's widow married Robert Scot , director of the Chancery) married first^[2]:

1. Elizabeth Hamilton daughter of Hamilton of Priestfield issue one son John Scott a Latin poet and professor at Rochelle where he died of the plague.^[2]
2. Isobel Durie daughter of Durie of Durie begore October 1591and issue one son William Scott who died April 1613^[2]
3. Jean Skene whose name occurs in the record of the Great Seal between August 1595 and December 1602 issue ?^[2]
