Sir William accompanied James IV. on his unfortunate expedition to England on 9 Sep 1513, and being taken prisoner at Flodden, was obliged to sell part of his lands to pay his ransom.[4][5]
He was on two occasions appointed a commissioner for effecting a treaty of peace with England.
He married Janet, daughter of Thomas Lundy[1][6] They had issue, including:
