John Scott was born circa 1729 in Rappahannock, Virginia to parents Edward Scott (1706-1738) and Ann (Cox) Scott (1707-1738). John's father was Edward Scott. who in 1732 patented 550 acres "on the north side of the Fluvanna at a place called Totier.
