Biography

David Scott has Irish ancestors.

Son of David Scott 1653–Deceased (Marriage: 1677 in Ireland) and Hannah Smith 1657–

David was born in 1678. He passed away in 1760.[1]

In 1702: Purchased land from widow Mary Bouton in Ridgefield Township

On 21 April 1719- Suit in Fairfield by Mary Scott of County Londonderry, Ireland against David Scott. He could not be found, so his "pretended" wife, Elizabeth was found. Mary received 3 acres and 72 rods in the judgement.

In 1722, Mary petitioned the Fairfield court for a divorce which was granted.[2]

His inventory was completed on 28 April 1760 in Ridgefield and recorded in Danbury.[3]

Note: Some debate over who was the mother of David's children. One theory is James is from Mary, his "real" wife, while Elizabeth is the daughter of his second wife (or pretended as Mary called her) Elizabeth. This is due to the fact that David gave half of his acreage to his son James in 1721, but none to Elizabeth. James gave some to Elizabeth, instead.

David is buried at Ridgefield, Fairfield, Connecticut

In 1760, he died intestate with property, but the court could not find a widow or child surviving to distribute the estate, so they agreed to distribute it equally among the next of kin.[4]

David was born in 1678. He passed away in 1760.
