George and his older brother John leave Canada sometime after 1881 and immigrate to the USA. For some unknown reason, they are later listed, in almost every record I have found so far, as born in Maine. Just in the 1910 Census John is recorded as born in Canada, but the immigration year is given as 1868, when he was crearly still living on his parent's farm. It would be interesting to find out the reasons behind this.

George marries Esther Louise Larson about 1883 and moves in with her on a farm in Utah, where they become parents of a daughter, Maggie Amelia Scott, in 1884. Sometime after Maggie's birth, the young family moves to Denver, Colorado, where three more children are born: George Edward Junior Scott in 1888, Ninetta Scott in 1890 and Frank Armstrong Scott. They return to Murray, Utah sometime after Frank's birth though, where another son, John Henry Scott, is born in 1897.

13 Jun 1900 George and his family live on his mother-in-law's farm in Murray Precinct, Salt Lake County, Utah.[5]

  • Scott Esther L. (daughter, white, female, born May 1866, 34 years, married for 17 years, all of her 5 children are still alive, born in Utah, both parents born in England, can read, write and speak English)
  • Scott George (son-in-law, white, male, born May 1856, 44 years, married for 17 years, born in Maine(?), father born in Ireland, mother born in Engl. Canada, day laborer, can read, write and speak English)
  • Scott Maggie (gand-daughter, white, female, born Apr 1884, 16 years, single, father born in Maine(?), mother born in Utah, attends school, can read, write and speak English)
  • Scott George (gand-son, white, male, born Dec 1888, 11 years, single, father born in Maine(?), mother born in Utah, attends school, can read, write and speak English)

  • Scott Frank (gand-son, white, male, born Oct 1893, 6 years, single, father born in Maine(?), mother born in Utah, attends school, can read, write and speak English)
  • Scott Henry (gand-son, white, male, born Jun 1898, 2 years, single, father born in Maine(?), mother born in Utah)

George's oldest daughter Maggie marries Carl Hammond on 10 Jan 1905. The couple moves to Salt Lake City, where they raise four children.

In 1907 George's youngest son, Lee Weight Scott, is born.

Sometime in the late 1900s George's son George Jr. moves west to try his luck in California. His son Frank works on the farm of George's brother-in-law in Deseret, Millard County, Utah. I assume George was already sick at the time and maybe not able to work and the older boys left home early not to be a burden on the family.

22 May 1910 George and Esther own a house in Murray City, Salt Lake, Utah now.[6] George is listed without work. Maybe he was already sick at that time?

  • Scott Georg (male, white, 53 years, married, born in Maine(?), father born in Ireland, mother born in New Hampshire(?), owns a house free of mortgage, can read, write and speak English)
