Biography

Census enumerations record Arabella's birth year as 1822 (1850), 1812 (1860) and 1832 (1870). Her gravestone reads born 14 March 1811.[1]

Marriage 1 on 29 December 1831, William Milton Davis
William Milton Davis (1794-24 December 1836) married 29 December 1831 Arabella Scott in Franklin County, Kentucky. Possibly she was a second wife, as William was age 37 years in 1831 [but no previous marriage has been discovered].[2] William M. Davis executed his will on 24 December 1836 in Nelson County, Kentucky, bequeathing everything to his wife Arabella Davis and his two minor daughters, Catharine and Eliza. He nominated his wife Arabella and his brother Elijah as Executors. His will entered probate on Monday, 10 April 1837 at Nelson County Court. [3]

William is buried at the Old Methodist Cemetery at Chaplin, Kentucky. His tombstone reads, "Major William Milton Davis, d. 24 Dec 1836, erected by his affectionate wife, Arabella Davis."[4]

Daughter Eliza is not enumerated on the 1850 census with her mother Arabella (now Welch) and her sister Catherine "Kate" Davis age 17.[5] Daughter Catherine married Alexander Grant in 1852 in Franklin County.[6]

Marriage 2 before 1845, Sylvester Welch
Arabella Scott married Sylvester Welch and had at least one son Sylvester Welch (born 1845 died 1885)
