Biography

Samuel was born in 1799. He was the son of Cason Scott and Tabitha Dixon. He passed away in 1846 and is buried in Scottsville Cemetery in Harrison Co., TX.

Samuel SCOTT was not given a middle name at birth. After moving to Louisiana, Samuel's family settled in an area near another SCOTT family who also had a son named Samuel. In order to avoid confusion between the two Samuels, Samuel gave himself the initial "T"......with no name assigned to it....he was simply referred to as Samuel T. Scott. Some people have assumed that the "T" stands for Thomas but that is incorrect because his older brother was named Thomas.
