Notes for RUPERT LESLEY SCOTT: Rupert was a coal miner in Collie and later a forestry Overseer. He left the mines and took his family to Perth at the insistence of "Nana Rose" She and her daughter Edna loved the city life and pressured Rupert to leave.
Both Rose and Edna loved going to fairgrounds, funfairs, local shows etc.
They always went together and left "Grandpa Rup" with the other children. It seems on one of these occasions that Nana Rose fell pregnant to a professional boxer, Lou Hards. A son Ronald was born and Rupert was none the wiser as to who the father was.
Rupert could not get work in Perth and moved the family back to Collie where he joined the forestry Commission. He was given land, tilled the soil and planted potatoes, and other vegetables from seed. He did well until he broke his leg, was on crutches, slipped and hit his head and died in the main street of Collie
According to a Report from Saltia School, Rupert Leslie's admission to school was on 12/11/1899 where his residence was stated as "Saltia, section 6, 2 miles from school" He left Saltia School in 1894 for WA
