Biography

Israel was born 4 Apr 1778 in Durham, Middlesex, Connecticut. He was the son of Abraham Scranton and Hannah Camp.[1][2]

Israel Scranton married Ann Curtis 12 Oct 1800 in Durham, Connecticut.[3]

Israel Scranton married Clarissa Pardee 9 Feb 1812 in Durham, Connecticut.[3]

Israel Scranton paid in full on 10 Sep 1834 for 40 acres in the SouthEast quarter of the NorthWest quarter of Section 22 in Township 6 South of Range 6 East in the district of lands subject to sale at Detroit, Michigan Territory.[4][5]

Research Notes

According to Erastus Scranton[6] in the spring of 1832 Israel moved with his family to Dundee, Monroe County, Michigan. He was twice married; first to Ann Curtis 12 Oct 1800 and second to Clarissa Pardee 9 Feb 1812.

Scranton lists 17 children, born in Durham (1803), Camden North Carolina (1806, 1808, 1809), Durham (1810), Rochester New York (1813, 1814, 1816), and Durham (1817, 1819, 1821, 1822, 1825, 1827, 1828, 1832).

Note: The Barbour Collection for Durham has records for many of his children.
