Biography

Olive appears in the 1855 NYS Census at age 59 living in Petersburgh, living next to the Babcock and Allen families, who are on either side of her property.

1870 United States Federal Census lists her as 74, also living with Polley Kengon, 82. in Petersburg, NY. By the New York, State Census, 1875, she is living in Poestenkill, Rensselaer, NY. RootsWeb Cemetery Index, 1800-2010 lists her death a year later on Feb. 3, 1876. Her will was probated [New York, Wills and Probate Records, 1659-1999] on 14 Apr 1876. Appears that she never married.

Obituary 17 FEB 1876

"The Sabbath Recorder", Vol 32, No 7, p 3, Feb. 17, 1876. In Petersburgh, N. Y., Feb. 3d, 1876, Miss Olive Scriven, in the 81st year of her age. The subject of this notice gave herself to her Savior when about sixteen years old, and united with the Berlin Seventh-day Baptist church, and remained an exemplary member till the Petersburgh church was organized; she then united with that church. She was universally respected by her acquaintances for her sterling Christian qualities, adhering strictly to the observance of Jehovah's Sabbath. She passed away in the full triumph of faith. B. F. R.
