Biography

Elton Carrel Scruggs was born on 27 Dec 1899 in Arkansas. He was the son of Miles Hendrix and Florence Ella Scruggs. Elton passed away on 4 Nov 1962 and was buried in the Greenwood Cemetery, Ruston, Louisiana.^[1][2]

1900 Census: Five month old Elton Scruggs is living with his parents, Mark H. (28) and Florence (20) Scruggs, in the Union Township of Beebe, White County, Arkansas. The record shows that Elton was born in Arkansas during December of 1899.^[3]

1920 Census: Elton C. Scruggs is living with his parents Miles Hendrix (48) and Florence Ella (40) Scruggs, in the Roberts Township of Jefferson County, Arkansas. The record notes that Elton was 20 years old and that he was born in Arkansas. Elton's sister, Corrine (11), is also listed as a member of the household.^[4]

1940 Census: Elton is 39 years old and living with his Uncle John Scruggs (59) in Little Rock, Arkansas. The record indicates that Elton is divorced and is employed as a School Bus Chauffer.^[5]
