Joseph Seal, child of William Seal and Hannah Seal, was born on 16 January 1721 in Delaware, Pennsylvania. [NOTE: Source reads 16, 11,20; so translates to16 JAN 1721][1]

Abstract of the will of William Seal, yeoman, of Birmingham Township, Chester County, Pa., dated July 8, 1742 (Will book B p. 118)

Provides for wife Hannah. To son Joseph my plantation where I live in Birmingham he paying to his 3 brothers Ł20 each. To sons William, Joshua and Caleb my lotts of land in Wilmington, when they are of age. To daughters Rachel and Hannah Seal Ł30 each. Executors: wife Hannah and friends Abm. Darlington and Jos. Mendenhall. Witnesses: Jos. Chambers, Rachel Peirce, Abm. Darlington Jr.

Will proved October 1, 1742.

His son William witnessed the will of Eleanor Turner on October 16, 1745, demonstrating that William Seal Jr. was born no later than 1724, yet because his father's will suggests that he was a minor as of July 1742, we must conclude that William Jr. was born no earlier than 1721.

Hannah Seal (widow of William Sr.) and her son Joseph both wrote wills on July 17, 1746, and both wills were proved September 29 of that year. Joseph left his entire estate to his brothers, and named as Executors his brother in law John Bennett, and Joseph Mendenhall.

Hannah's will named all six children, including daughter Hannah Bennett. She named as Executors her daughter Rachel, and Joseph Mendenhall. The probate court appointed Mendenhall as sole Executor, "the other being deceased."

Rachel Seal wrote her will the same day as her mother, but for some reason her will was not proved until February 25, 1746/7. (Book B page 218.) In her will, she mentioned her brother Joseph Seal, sister Hannah Bennet and brothers William, Joshua and Caleb Seal; also her aunt Lydia Dean and cousin Lydia Dean.

Seals-522 and Seal-80 appear to represent the same person because: Clear duplicate, mother profiles were just merged. No idea if the LNAB is Seal or Seale, but children go by Seal.
