Louisa Co genweb has "Dr. Reuben S. Searl was an early resident of Harrison." The context indicates this was before 1840. Note the middle initial fits.
This man was a nephew of Elisha Searl, who was in the 1840 census of Louisa Co IA and left a widow Sarah and adult children there, including Robert W Searles, born ca 1825 OH, resided Louisa Co IA with wife and children.
