William was born about 1833 in Feock, son of Matthew and Mary.
Elizabeth Ann Williams married William Searle on 10 December 1857 in Feock. Both parties signed their names. William was a labourer of Harcourt, son of Matthew (a farmer). Elizabeth was a spinster of Argue, daughter of John (a farmer). Witnesses were John Williams and Helen Searle.[1]
In the 1871 census, William Searle (38), Elizth E Searle (38), William Searle (12), Mary E Searle (11), Mathew Searle (8), Annie Searle (7), Eliza J Searle (5) and William's mother Mary Searle (71 born Probus) are living in Churchtown, Feock. All except Mary were born in Feock[2]
This profile was originally created with William born 1847, the son of Catherine Williams (1825-1897) and Matthew Searle (1826-1899), but that's just not right. There is no William Searle, mothers maiden name Williams born around 1847, and his mother is Mary in the 1871 census. He's also 16 years older than that record required.
