Robert was born in Cornwall in 1806[1] and was married[2] with one son and two daughters when he was convicted and sentenced to life for cattle stealing. He arrived in sydney aboard the "NEVA" on 21 Nov 1833 and gained his conditional pardon on 1 july 1843, supposedly for turning in some bushrangers who had taken refuge in his hut.
Robert purchased four adjoining blocks of land at Bootoowa, where they built their home which they named "Tregolden". This house is still in very good condition, with very little alteration from the original design (1987).
