Biography

Emaline "Emma" Lucinda Seaver was born March 25, 1857 in Eldora, Hardin co., Iowa. She is the daughter of Jacob Shever Seaver and Emeline Routen Beach. She married Samuel N. Meekins Dec. 15, 1874 in Story Co., Iowa. Emma Meekins died July 5, 1939 in Marshall Co., Iowa and buried at Illinois Grove Cemetery.

Longtime St. Anthony Resident Dies Wednesday "Mrs. Sam Meekins, a resident of St. Anthony for the past fifty years, died at her home Wednesday after having been bedfast for the past week. She had been ill for several years. Mrs. Meekins was Emaline Lucinda Seaver before her marriage to Mr. Meekins Dec. 15, 1874 in Story county. They celebrated their 50th and 60th wedding anniversaries at the community hall at St. Anthony and had planned to celebrate their 65th anniversary next December. She was born March 25, 1857 near Eldora, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Seaver. She spent several years in Jewel county, Kansas and the rest of her life in Iowa. Mrs. Meekins was the last surviving member of her father's family. Her twin sister Eveline Marinda Clannin, died about three years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Meekins were the parents of eight children, four of whom died in infancy. The four living are Mrs. Maude Andrews, James R. Meekins, Mrs. G.L. LaPlante and Fred Meekins, all of St. Anthony. There are nine living grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Mrs. Meekins joined the Christian church in 1895. The body was taken to the Brouhard Funeral Home at Zearing and will be brought back to the Meekins home Thursday morning." (Source: Find A Grave)
