Biography

Margaret Jane Seawright was born March 4, 1798 to parents, William Seawright 1753-1838 and Mary Stevenson 1768-1850 in South Carolina, USA.

In 1850, Jane, 47, was living in the Western Division of the District of Anderson, South Carolina, USA with husband, James, 55, with children, Eliza, 20, Madison, 19, Newton, 15, Samuel, 12, LeRoy, 8, and Elbert, 7. By birth year on tombstone, Jane would have been 52 here.

In 1860, Jane, 63, was living in 4th Regiment of Anderson, South Carolina, USA with husband, James Stephenson, 66, and Leroy, 20, and Elbert, 17.

In 1870, Jane, 73, was living in Varennes Township, Anderson, South Carolina, USA with husband, James, 76, a farmer who owned his home worth $2000, and son, LeRoy, 28, who also worked on the farm. F Thomas, 42, was a female servant while her boys John, 18, and Levi, 16 worked on the farm.

In 1880, Jane, 84, was living with son, Dock LeRoy Stevenson, 40 in Varennes Township, Anderson, South Carolina, USA. Dock Leroy was farming the land now with the help of Thomas Hewin, 21, Orange Warton, 21, a black male, William H Warton, 18, a black male and Elbert Williams,13.

She passed away June 15, 1884 and was buried at Starr Baptist Church Cemetery, Starr, Anderson County, South Carolina, USA with her husband, James.[1]
