Biography

Thankful Sedgwick was born on 21 Apr 1721, in Hartford, in the Connecticut Colony.[1] She was the daughter of Samuel Sedgwick, Jr., and Ruth Peck.[2]

Thankful was married to Jehiel Preston on 21 Oct 1741, by Mr. Whittlesey in Wallingford, Connecticut Colony.[3]

Thankful and Jehiel had two children:

Thankful (Sedgwick) Preston married the widower, Ephraim Tuttle, on 16 Apr 1761, in Wallingford.[6][7]

Ephraim and Thankful had two children:

  • Ruth Tuttle (b. 7 Jan [1763])[8]
  • Edmund Tuttle (b. 20 Dec 176[4])[9][10]

Ephraim Tuttle died on 2 Feb 1773, in Wallingford.[11]

Thankful married Jason Hotchkiss, a widower, on 17 Feb 1774, in Wallingford.[12]

After Jason Hotchkiss died on 19 May 1776,[13] Thankful married Capt. John Hall on 4 Jun 1778.[14][15]

Thankful (Sedgwick) Tuttle Hotchkiss Hall died at the age of 85, on 5 Oct 1806, probably in either Cheshire or Wallingford, Connecticut. She was buried in the Hillside Cemetery in neighboring Cheshire, Connecticut.[16]
