Abraham (Sellen) Sell is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A134079.

He is the son of Hendrick Sells and Margaret Unknown.

He was born in Germantown, Pennsylvania in 1715. During the French and Indian War, Abraham drove a wagon on the ill fated Braddock Campaign in 1755 to take Fort Duquesne from the French. Braddock was defeated and slain at the Battle of Monongahela. Abraham survived and went on to serve in the Revolutionary War as a Captain of the 8th Company, 6th Battalion of the York County Militia in 1778. His son Jacob Sell, served in the same York County, Pennsylvania Militia as his father. (The link below lists him in a different battalion.)'

Research Notes

Using the link above, https://www.phmc.pa.gov/Archives/Research-Online/Pages/Revolutionary-War-Militia-York.aspx

Link leads to the York County Revolutionary War Militia listing the commanding officers. Captain Abraham SELL is listed in 1777, for Germany Township, as being in the 7th Battalion, 8th Company, and in 1780 as being in the 4th Company of that same Battalion. His commanding officers were: Lt. Col. Adam Winterode and Major Joseph Lilley.

Abraham and his father appear to have been Mennonites, who traced their origins to Swiss Anabaptists.
