Biography

Anne was born at Hairshawhead Farm near Strathaven Lanarkshire where she was baptised on 18th October 1836 . She was the daughter of William Semple and Sara Loudon. [1]

In 1841 Anne was 4 years old. She lived with her parents, siblings James and Susan and her father's parents James and Susanna Semple at Hairshawhead Farm, Avondale, Lanarkshire. [2]

In 1851 Anne was 14 years old and employed as a dairy maid. She lived with her parents, siblings James and Susan, Sarah, Margaret, Elizabeth and James and her father's father James Semple at Hairshawhead Farm, Avondale, Lanarkshire. [3]

On 11th July 1855, Anne married William Henderson at Hairshawhead, Avondale. [4] This marriage record notes that Anne's birth was registered on 18th October 1836.

Children

By 1861 William had moved from Craigthornhill to Eastquarter, a farm of 100 acres, in the parish of Glassford where Anne lived with her husband and children Sarah, Lilias and Ann and servants John Reid, Andrew Wilson, Helen Campbell and Elizabeth Baird. [5]

By 1871 William had again moved his family from Lanarkshire to Meadownay in the parishof Maybole, Ayrshire where Anne lived with her husband, children Sarah, Lilias, James, William and Anne and employees, James McCormick, Bella (Mc)Queen and George Murray. [6]

In 1881 Anne was 44 years old. She lived at Meadownay, Maybole with her husband, children Sarah, Lilias, James, William and Anne, and servants Ellen McDonald and David Gibson. [7]

In 1891 Anne was 54 years old. She lived at High Milton Farm with her husband and servants William campbell, Jane Jess and Isabella Ferguson. [8]

William passed away on 17th August 1893 at High Milton Farm, Maybole.[9]

Following William's death Anne retired to a house in Prestwick. In 1901 Anne was 64 years old and living at 6 Marina Road, Prestwick. her grandson, James Dykes was also present. [10]

Anne passed away on 24th June 1910 at Strathaven, Avondale in Lanarkshire. [11]
