Edward Sexton was born about 1841 at St Luke, Middlesex, England. He was the son of Edward Sexton and Mary Dillon.
In 1851 he was age 10, a scholar, living with his parents and siblings in Saint Pancras Middlesex.[1]
Edward Sexton and Emily Smith married on 14 Sep 1862 at St Mary Magdalene, Bermondsey, Surrey, England.[2] They had three known children:
Emily Sexton (b. 1863),
Elizabeth Jane Sexton (b. 1866),
Louisa Sexton (b. 1872).
In the 1871 census, Edward Sexton was age 30 living at Bermondsey, London with his wife Emily Sexton (29), children Emily Sexton (7), Elizabeth Sexton (5). Occupation Storekeeper.[3]
Edward's family emigrated to New Zealand in 1879. The party comprised Edward Sexton (38), Emily Sexton (38), Emily Sexton (16), Elizabeth Sexton (14), Louisa Sexton (7). They sailed on the "Zealandia" which arrived in Wellington, New Zealand on 17 Oct 1879.[4]
Edward Sexton died in 1885 age 44 in New Zealand. He was buried at Bolton Street Cemetery, Wellington, New Zealand.[5][6][7]
