Abigail FOWLER JOHNSON was born May 29, 1742. She married John JOHNSON at Trinity Church in New York City on December 24, 1760. Relatives in the family have a copy of a letter from the church confirming their marriage. Some books/sources say that she was the daughter of Jonathan FOWLER and Anne SEYMOUR. Other books have attributed her parentage as Edmund. Family mebers in John Johnson's family believe that it is Jonathan because of various other facts. Judge Jonathan FOWLER lost his lands after the Revolution because he had been a Tory. However, three of his sons and his son-in-law petitioned after his death to reclaim his property (due to the fact that they had fought alongside Washington) and they were successful. Jonathan Fowler's son-in-law was named as John JOHNSON, therefore we believe Abigail was in fact his daughter.
Anne wrote a will in 1804, but did not name either John or Abigail in the terms.
