Biography

Caution: This man was NOT the son of the Duke and Duchess of Somerset. According to The Complete Peerage by George Edward Cokayne, John Seymour son of Edward Seymour and Katherine Fillot died unmarried.

John Seamer (Seymour, Seymer) was born about 1535 in Sawbridgeworth (pronounced "Sapsearth"), Hertfordshire, England.[1][2][3]

He married Dyzory Porter on 9 May 1562 in Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire, England.[2][4][5]

John passed away in Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire, England in 1605 and he was buried on October 23, 1605. [6]

Many professionals have been hired over the last few centuries to figure this out, and none have conclusive proof. [NOTE: to what does this comment refer?]

Will [7]

The abstract of his will reads: "The Will of John Semare of Sabridgeworth, co. Herts, 7 October 1605. To my son Robert a table. To my daughter Annie my 'wafer yernes.'* To my sons John and Peter 6d. each. To my daughters Jane and Dorothy a bed each. All residue to my wife [unnamed], who is to be executrix, and my son Robert is to be executor. Witnesses: Thomas Browne, Mathew Thorowgood. Proved 13 November 1605. (* "wafer yernes" are waffle irons. )

Research Notes

Found records of Marriage for a first wife for John. Her name is Jone Andrew. The marriage has good sources but her life has not come up with solid sources that I have found yet. If what I have found is correct, she was born about 1535 and married Richard Duxford who was born in Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire, England in 1539. She then married John on November 11, 1560. Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire, England and then passed away in 1561. This would make sense as she would have passed just before his marriage to Dyzory Porter in 1562. Sources for John and Jone's marriage are: England & Wales Marriages, 1538-1940, and England, Select Marriages, 1538-1973 and the marriage is also listed in The New England Historical & Genealogical Register, 1847-2011 [Note: please add citations to your first few sentences so others may review this information. Thank you.]

Evelyn at "beran-Pipal Family," Ancestry.com has: "John's birthplace is unknown, but he appears to have lived continuously at Sawbridgeworth, co. Herts, from the time of his marriage until his death. Sawbridgeworth is a rural parish about 25 miles northeast of London. It lies in co. Herts, extending to the eastern boundary line of this county and bordering co. Essex.

The Jone Oxford Bayley attached as daughter is either attached to the wrong family or fictional. There are no sources and she is claimed a Baroness.
