Biography
Hannah first appears on the 1870 Fed Census in Alabama where she was born. She is living with her parents who are both listed as 21 years old. She is listed as 2 years old. Her father is listed as S A and her mother as Emos(?) both are listed as being born in Georgia on this record. [1]
Hannah is on the 1880 Fed Census living in Lamar, Alabama with her parents Starling A, and Arminda along with brother Rufus 8, sisters Rosanna 4 and Emma 2. There is a stepson listed on this census Stephan V.B.S. Byant 17 born Alabama and working on the farm.[2]
Hannah married her husband W.F. Blair in Alabama 2 Oct 1885.[3]
By the 1900 Fed Census Hannah and her husband William F. Blair have 6 children all born in Alabama. The children were George W, Emma E, Ledar E, Mary B, Joseph A and William F. The couple is still living in Lamar, Alabama.[4]
By the 1910 Fed Census Hannah and William are living in Mississippi with 7 children in the house. This census states that she had 9 children and 9 were still living. The last three added were Ardella 10 b Ala, David 6 b Miss, and Fanny 2 b Miss.[5]
On the 1920 Fed Census a child has been added, John F 10 b Miss, and Fanny is missing. The family is still farming. It looks like George W is farming next door with a wife and children.[6]
By 1930 Hannah is listed as a widow, she has three of her children Ardella, David, John F and two nephews, Will and Bert Pennington from Alabama working the farm.[7]
On the 1940 Fed Census John F is now head of house and owner. In the house are his brother David S, sister Ardella, Mother Hannah E 72 and Aunt Emma Shackleford 61 single and born in Alabama.[8]
Hannah died in 1954 and is buried in Monroe, Mississippi.[9]
