Biography

Margaret Shafer (1813– 5 May1864 Sterling Run, Cameron, Pennsylvania) was the daughter of John Sheffer/Shafer (1785–1872) and Elizabeth Bartholomew (1792–1872)

She married William Berfield (1798 - 30 Mar 1874 Sterling Run, Cameron, Pennsylvania). William was the son of Stephen Berfield (1774–1814) and Susannah Sterling (1776–1852).

Known children:

  1. Elizabeth Huff Berfield (30 JUN 1839 prob Clinton or Potter County, Pennsylvania - 1900 Sterling Run, Cameron, Pennsylvania). About 1859 she married James Strawbridge (16 JUN 1836 Sterling Run, Pennsylvania - 25 JUN 1919 St Marys, Elk, Pennsylvania) son of John Strawbridge Jr and Catharine Schaffer/Sharer.

Sheffer-159 and Shafer-1110 do not represent the same person because: Further review of the information for Sheffer-159 and Shafer-1110 indicate that they are in fact sisters.....Both Married to Burfield/Berfield men, one named George and the other William George.
