Sarah married her first cousin Abraham Shafer in about 1850. By 1881 she was a widow and married the octogenarian Jacob Teeple. Jacob died the following year and in 1883, Sarah married William Dawdy.
Sarah died from Bright's disease in 1887 and her husband William subsequently married her spinster sister Dorothy.
