Biography
Merle James Shaffer was born on March 25, 1929, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Stewart Shaffer and Rose Lund.[1]
In 1930, he was living with his parents at the Maryland State Sanitorium in Hauvers, Frederick, Maryland.[2] Sometime between 1935 and 1940, his family moved to the Mt. Wilson Sanitarium in Baltimore, Maryland, along with his maternal aunt, Hazel.[3]
He died on December 24, 2009, in East Troy, Walworth, Wisconsin.[4]
