The common knowledge in the family is that at a Family Reunion many years ago; Uncle Jake and my Great-grandfather, George Percival Shaffer, got into a row over the spelling of the Shaffer family name. Uncle Jake said that it was Schaeffer because we were English; George Percival said "oh no it is not, we are German and it is Shaffer". Well, Shaffer's being Shaffer's and the most stubborn people that you'll find, it ended the Family Reunions.
We have found, at least back to the mid to late 1700's at this point, it has been Shaffer. Before that, who knows. LOL

3. The late John "Jack" Shaffer, Selinsgrove, PA
