Biography

William was born in 1896. He is the son of Malcolm Sharp and Ellen Cookson. [1]

William enlisted in the Australian Army (AIF) during WW1. He enlisted in July 1915 and embarked from Australia in September, but died of disease (measles and meningitis) in Cairo, Egypt, on November 23, 1915. He is buried in the Cairo War Memorial Cemetery, Egypt (Row D, Grave No.203).[2] William's name appears on the Roll of Honour at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.[3]
