Matthias Schaup (George Dooley Sharp's great-grandfather) came to America from Konigsbach, Germany Sept 11, 1732 on the Pennsylvania Merchant. Upon his death, his three sons; Abraham, Adam and John, moved to Bedford, County, Virginia and changed the name to Sharp.
John Sharp (George Dooley Sharp's grandfather) was a Revolutionary War soldier. John & his brother were slaveowners in Virginia and Kentucky. They left Kentucky because of their anti-slavery views. John married Anne Dooley and had nine chldren. Their son Noah (George Dooley Sharp's father) was born about 1767-77 in Bedford County, VA and died in 1823 in Franklin County, Kentucky.
Noah moved to Kentucky about 1804 with his wife Jane (Jenny) Dooley. They had 6 children. Their son George Dooley Sharp was born March 1797 in Bedford County VA and died July 24, 1878 in Richland County, WI. He married Elizabeth (Betsy) Miller. They left Kentucky about 1827 for Clinton County, Indiana. In 1849, they moved to Richland County, WI. They were among the first settlers of Richland County. They had 7 children, one being James Andrew Sharp - who married Indiana Frances Privett and had a son William Newton Sharp.[1]

Matthias Schaup died in 1750, 47 years before George was born and Catherine born in 1700 could not have given birth at 97 years of age, but her profile also states she died in 1750. Believe George is linked to the wrong parents.
