George R. Sharp (Sharpe) was born on 6 January 1791, the son of George R Sharp, Sr and Catherine Kirk. He was a War of 1812 veteran and enlisted as a private on 12 October 1813 in the E. Tennessee Volunteer Infantry at Knoxville, Tennessee (commanded by Captain William Hamilton of Cooke County, E. Tennessee). He was discharged on 2 February 1814 after serving 3 months and 22 days at $8.00/month. He was paid $29.16 at discharge. He passed away in 1862. Burial in Ausmus Cemetery, Speedwell, Claiborne County, Tennessee

I am trying to confirm the parents of George Sharp jr, born 1791. Records are conflicting. Some indicate the Parents were George SR.(born 1755) and Elizabeth Kirk Sharp, others dispute this. Genevieve Peters in Her book "know your relatives...." found No connection between these two families. HELP please.
