Susannah was born in 1820. She was the daughter of Stephen Sharp and Mary Sharp. She passed away in 1841. From her sister's retelling in the pioneer book Married and Gone to New Zealand, by Alison Drummond: "Father initially refused a passage to New Zealand because he lacked a wife. The doctors applied for one as they said it was the only thing what could save my poor sister because she was very ill and they could not do her any good, so they gave him a ticket to come out. ....... My dear sister was 21 years when she died on board, two months after leaving England, and I was 12 years. It was a sorry time. There were not many dry eyes when she was put overboard" [1]
