Burial: Sharp Cemetery, St Tammany Parish, Louisiana, USA[1] Words on headstone: "WILLIAM SHARP. BORN OCT. 1796. DIED OCT. 1882. THIS IS OLD GRANDFATHER SHARP. HE GIVE THIS CEMETARY TO HIS GRANDCHILDREN FOR BURRYING GROUND. MAY HE REST IN GLORY. REMEMBER ME."

Toward the bottom of his headstone, there is a bronze plaque that states "Veteran of the War of 1812".[5]
