Biography

Have copy of Marriage Cert. Why was she born in Lassward, nr Edinburgh? Only pos record is with her father and his siblings, but no mother for Margaret. However, grandmother's name recorded as Margaret . . . . Lasswarde confirmed as an area of Edingurgh on an old OS map. Possibly confirmed record at Scotlands People 1841 Census: dob 1837 if true and there's no mother, just Grandmother and siblings of father (?) 1873 Maiden name confirmed on daughter's birth cert. 1881 Census: at Lintzford, age 45 so dob c1836. Son John 16yrs but page ends so . . . . also place of birth 'Scotland Lassad' but writing unclear. Other variations: Lasswarde & Laswaid 1901 Census has her living at 164 Lintz Ford Farm Winlaton, Co. Durham. 2 unmarried offspring still with her. Lintzford Farm is off the B6130 nr Hamsterley Mill. Birth date and Marriage Cert just 16yrs apart! Females could marry at age of 12!
