Biography

Daniel Shaw was born ca. 1658 at Stonington, Connecticut. He was the son of Thomas Shaw and Mary Hopestill, who had moved their family from Charleston, Massachusetts to Connecticut ca. 1756.

Daniel married on 17 September 1678 to Ruth Williams. Their children were baptized in the "Road Church" in Stonington.

Doherty (cited below) lists nine children, namely:

  1. Mary Shaw, b. 30 June 1677
  2. Ruth Shaw, b. 8 March 1679
  3. Daniel Shaw, b. 15 Jan 1681, married Hopestill Elliott
  4. Rebecca Shaw, b. 26 Oct. 1683, married Samuel Hudson
  5. Thomas Shaw, baptized 29 Aug 1686
  6. Richard Shaw, baptized 3 July 1687
  7. Benjamin Shaw, baptized 12 June 1692
  8. Anna Shaw, baptized 2 June 1695, married Feb 1690 or 1691 to James Curtis, son of Isaac and Hannah Curtis
  9. Abigail Shaw, baptized 2 June 1695, married Samuel Gustine.

Daniel Shaw died 17 Sept 1710 at Stonington, CT.
