Biography

John was born in 1869. He was the son of Horace Shaw and Martha Howe.

In 1897 John married Lena Cruttenden in Lambs Creek, PA ^[1] and they had two sons, Nelson and Wilford

John is listed in the 1900 U.S. census as head of household with his wife Lena and infant son Nelson living in Richmond Township, PA. ^[2]

After Lena’s death in 1907, John’s brother and sister-in-law, Llewellyn & Mabel (Shipman) Shaw, fostered, and later adopted, John & Lena's youngest child, Wilford Walter Shaw.

John remarried Leda O. Knapp on 12 June 1909 and they had six more children.

He passed away in 1931.

SHAW - John H. Shaw, aged 61 years, of Mansfield, died Monday morning at 8 o'clock. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home, Rev. J.P. Harris, pastor of the Mansfield Presbyterian church, officiating; burial in Prospect cemetery, Mansfield. Besides the widow, Mrs. Leda O. Shaw, he is survived by six sons, Nelson B.; Wilford W.; Lester; John H. Jr; Llewellyn B.; Edson R.; two daughters, Martha E. and Esther A.; one grandson, Bryce Robert Shaw; one brother, Llewellyn B. Shaw, all residents of Mansfield.. He also leave a sister, Mrs. Edna Shaw Warren ??, of Durant, Mich.
