Biography

Francis Shaw was born in 1846 to James Shaw and Elizabeth Hunt (Eliza) .

He worked as post master at Pakenham.

At age 25, he married Elizabeth Argue (Lizzie) in January of 1873.

Between June of 1873, and May of 1874, it was thought Francis had drowned, but he was found to have turned up in the U.S.

The 1920 US Census gives Francis' immigration date to US as 1876; (according to newspaper clipping in Perth Courier in 1873, he was there earlier).

In 1878, Francis married Margaret Charlotte Hunter.

Four of five children born to them were: Albert A., John E., Ray F., and Alice.

He had 10 grandchildren at the time of his death on the 4th of November, 1922.

He is buried at Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Indiana, U.S.

Shaw-7782 and Shaw-6341 appear to represent the same person because: Francis Shaw married my grand-father's aunt Elizabeth Argue.
