James Shaw was born in Ireland.

James was born in 1883 in County Down, Ireland to James Shaw (Carter) and Mary Ann (Hamilton) Shaw. ^[1]

On 31 March 1901 the Shaw family lived in Hazelnut Street, Clifton (Belfast), County Antrim. ^[2] James Shaw (40) Carter with wife Mary Shaw (38) and children Miram Shaw (1), Amelia Shaw (4), James Shaw (17) Shop Porter, Robert Shaw (15) Clerk Provision, Alfred Shaw (8) & John Shaw (6), Church of Ireland and all but Miram (County Antrim) born in County Down.

On 2 April 1911 the Shaw family lived in Hazelnut Street, Clifton (Belfast), County Antrim. ^[3] James Shaw (47) Coachman and wife Mary Ann Shaw (45) with children James Shaw (26) Shop Assistant Tailor's, Alfred Shaw (18) Printers Labourer, John Shaw (16) Printers Labourer, Miriam Edith Shaw (11), Joseph Shaw (8), William Shaw (5), Walter Shaw (3) & Dora Alice Shaw (9) with boarder James Pepper (20) Leather Merchants Assistant, all Church of Ireland.
