SHAW Inscription: (In a high railed enclosure). Erected by congregation of Boardmills to the Reverend John Shaw, their first Pastor, who departed this life May 23rd A.D. 1825 in the 39th year of his age and 10th of his Ministry. [The Rev. John Shaw was born in 1785/6, son of David Shaw of Boardmills. He was educated by the Rev. John Rodgers of Chans, entered Glasgow University in 1805 and was licensed as a probationer by the Glasgow Presbytery in 1813. He was ordained as the first minister of Second Boardmills Presbyterian Church in 1816 and died on the 23rd May 1825. He married Anne Warden of Garvagh, who survived her husband to die on 29th July1874 at her eldest daughters home in Coleraine. This daughter, Margaret Anne Shaw, married her cousin Joseph Warden Caskey, a Coleraine dentist, in 1839. The Rev. John Shaws only son, John Warden Shaw , emigrated to Canada in 1846.]
