John Henry “Curly John” Sheets was born in 1799. He was the son of George Ludwig Sheets and Rosa (Orzech) Sheets. He married Susannah "Susan" (Henry) Sheets on September 7, 1820 in Gallia County, Ohio. The marriage was performed by Elijah Fowler, J.P. He served in the War of 1812. He passed away in 1862. He was buried either in the Old Mercerville Cemetery in Mercerville, Gallia, Ohio, United States or in the Johnson Cemetery in Guyan, Gallia, Ohio, United States.
