Biography

Date of birth based on marriage at minimum of age 16 in 1782.

Mentioned in her father's will of February 1795 as daughter Molly Heaven.

Descendant claims Polly Heavin McHaffie was dau. of James and Mary Shell. Polly married in 1812 in Knox County, TN, so there is the possibility the family moved there from Montgomery county, VA by then. Mollie's brother Christian Shell moved to Knox, TN after 1800, so the Heavins may have gone with them.

Name

Indefinite: proper name Mary. Molly nickname.
