Biography

Mentioned in her father Jacob Shell's will as Fanny Wall on 17 Feb 1795. Of Jacob's married daughters, she is mentioned second, which suggests she was younger than sister Gertrude Williams(b. 1745) and possibly single sisters Catherine and Elizabeth(also mentioned earlier), but older than the next married sister, Mollie Haven, who was probably born by as least 1766(if married at age 16 minimum in 1782.)

A 1796 Montgomery County, VA land transaction has Conrad and wife 'Elizabeth' deeding land to in-law James Sallis. It would follow that Elizabeth was probably the female b. 1765-1785 from Conrad's 1810-1830 Census. Wall family researcher Leslie Wall thinks this was probably Conrad's second wife, Elizabeth Riffe/Reif. Elizabeth shows up later in 1860 in her her daughter? Fanny's h/h, age 77VA(b. ~1783). This record would have her married to Conrad at about age 13/14.

Mary Kegley wrote: 'It is suggested . . . Fanny married Conrad Wall . . . But, in a dedicated sketch of Conrad, Jr., Kegley does not make the connection, only mentioning second wife? Elizabeth from his probate in 1830.

Progeny of Fanny Shell and Conrad Wall, Jr. is indefinite, but may have included two sons: Christian who married Hannah Mars in 1812, and John, mentioned with his brother in Conrad's will. The other children mentioned in the will were born after 1796.
