William was of age, but apparently did not serve in the militia during the War of 1812. He became a farmer in Miami county, OH. Relative Rosa May Garrison mentioned him in her memoirs as a prominent tobacco grower. The 1870 census shows he had real estate valued at $11000.
He and Sarah Sayers/Sayres had ten children. Many of them died prematurely--their father outlived all but three of them. Most of the family is buried at the same cemetery in Casstown, OH. William's youngest son George apparently inherited the family farm.
