Biography
John was the eldest son of John Shell, Jr. and Elizabeth Shufflebarger. He was born in OH, but moved with his parents to IN when he was about twelve years old. He married into the Sigler family as did his older sister Margaret. They had five sons and one daughter. He apparently encouraged education for his children as his father did. His eldest son became a 'druggist', one became a physician, and the youngest was a teacher.
