Biography

Jane Shallenberger was born on March 31,1834 in Pennsylvania.[1] She was the daughter of George Shellenberger and Mary Ann Smilie. She was in her parent's home in Clanton Twp., Falton County, Illinois, at the age of 16.[2]

She married Isaac W Leeper (1834-1909) on February 5, 1854, in Illinois[3] They had at least 4 children.

  1. Calvin Carlton Leeper (1855-1912)
  2. George S Leeper (1857-)
  3. John J Leeper (1863-1874)
  4. William S Leeper (1865-1902)

They started out their married live in Mercer County, Illinois, where in 1860, Isaac was working as a Laborer, and Jane was taking care of the home and family, Calvin-5, George-2, and John 8 months old.[4]

Isaac and Jane lived in Monmouth, Warren County, Illinois in 1870, where he was a Blacksmith, and Jane was taking care of the home and children, Calvin-15, John-11, and William-5.[5]

They later moved to Missouri, where in 1880, they lived in Chillcicothe, Livingston County, Missouri. At this time they had Carl-24, and William-15, in the home with them.[6]

She died on November 23, 1884, at the age of 50, in Avalon, Livingston County, Missouri, and was buried in the Avalon Cemetery there.[1]
