Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

Paul, I have also been inspired by the lives of my ancestors to learn more about the times in which they lived, and write about it for our family.

WikiTree is free for everyone so I love posting my sources and notes, knowing others who are related will not have to search the same places.

If you want to contribute your data to WikiTree, please see our page on "Volunteers". It explains why we are careful to understand the intentions of those who click the Volunteer button.

We welcome as members everyone who wants to join us in our mission - hope to hear from you!

Paul,

I see that you are looking for information. If you are just looking you don't need to Volunteer. You will find the People Search under FIND in the menus, upper right of this page. You can also ask questions in the G2G forum.

If you meant to Volunteer to help grow this wonderful collaborative Tree, please leave a note to that effect. We would love to have you!

I'm researching ancestry in order to write a biographical novel; I want to consider the historical and cultural factors of my family that might have shaped my own values and mindset.
