Biography
Sir John Shelley was the younger brother of the poet, Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792-1822). He was born in 1806, the son of Timothy Shelley and his wife Elizabeth Pilfold. He was christened on 14 Aug 1806 in Warnham, Sussex, England.[1]
Married on 24 March 1827 Elizabeth Bowen (d. 28 November 1889));
He bought the Avington estate in Hampshire in 1847, and it remained in the family until 1961.[2]
He died in 1866 at the age of 60[3] and was buried in the family vault in the Avington Estate.[4]
