Research Notes

William is referred to as "the Younger" [9]

On May 9, 1772 he purchased 35 acres on the South Branch of the Potomac - Hanover Co., VA.

The source History and genealogies by W.H. Miller has some inaccuracies on pp270-271. It notes that Lucy Harris died and William secondarily married a Sarah. This cannot be true as Lucy was named in William's 1802 will. It also states that son "Thomas Shelton, sold out 1817, to Francis McGee, at the time was living in Augusta County." This also cannot be true as Thomas was noted to be deceased in his father's 1802 will.
