Levi Marion Shelton

1890: L. M. SHELTON paid taxes on 400 acres of land in Ward One, Winn Par., LA (Legacies & Legends of Winn Parish, Vol. 6:4-6).

L. M. SHELTON was an early member of the Sardis Baptist Church.

Final proof on land claim: FINAL PROOF NOTICE Land Office at New Orleans, La., October 25, 1901 Notice is hereby given that the following named settler has filed notice of his intention to make final proof in support of his claim, and that said proof will be made before P. K. Abel, Clerk 5 D. C. at Winnfield, La., on Dec. 7, 1901, viz: Levi M. Shelton, H. E. No. 17789 for the sw 1/4 of Sec 18, Tp 10 n r 3 w. He names the following witnesses to prove his continuous residence upon, and cultivation of, said land, viz: James Philan, W. D. Drewett, Joab L. Durham, L. E. Drewett, all of Atlanta, La. WALTER L. COHEN, Register. (Atlanta, Louisiana in Winn Parish, near Sardis, south of Winnfield.)
